Bengaluru Engineering Student Arrested for Rape Inside College Washroom

A shocking incident at a reputed engineering college in Bengaluru has raised questions about campus safety after a 21-year-old male student allegedly raped his senior inside the men’s washroom of the institution. The survivor, a postgraduate student, described in her complaint how an ordinary meeting to collect her jacket from the accused turned into a traumatic assault.
According to the police report, the survivor met the accused around 1 p.m. at the post-graduation block on the seventh floor of the college building. During the meeting, he handed over her jacket but suddenly kissed her without consent. Disturbed and angered, she immediately went down to the sixth floor to avoid further confrontation.
However, the accused soon followed her, dragged her inside the men’s washroom, and raped her. In her statement, she said she was left shocked and traumatized. Later that day, she confided in two male friends, who advised her to file a police complaint. Initially hesitant due to fear of her parents’ reaction, she eventually approached the police after a few days.
The survivor added that the accused called her the same evening and asked, “Do you want me to bring a pill for you?” She disconnected the call immediately, still in deep shock and pain from the incident.
Police Action and College Response
After receiving the complaint, the police acted swiftly and arrested the accused. On Thursday, he was taken to the crime scene for a reconstruction (spot-mahazar), his face covered with a piece of black cloth. Investigators collected crucial evidence from the washroom area and reviewed CCTV footage from the building.
The college administration confirmed that an internal inquiry committee was formed immediately to review the incident. “In keeping with college norms, we have formed a committee to investigate the matter, and the report has been submitted,” said a college spokesperson. The college clarified that even before the formal complaint, preliminary disciplinary steps had been initiated.
The accused has been booked under Section 64 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for rape and remanded to judicial custody. Police officials said a female officer is supervising the case, and counseling support has been arranged for the survivor.
City police commissioner stated that such acts would be treated with the utmost seriousness and directed all educational institutions to strengthen internal safety mechanisms and surveillance within campuses.

बेंगलुरु के एक प्रतिष्ठित इंजीनियरिंग कॉलेज में 21 वर्षीय छात्र द्वारा अपनी सीनियर छात्रा से पुरुष वॉशरूम में दुष्कर्म किए जाने की घटना ने कॉलेज परिसरों की सुरक्षा व्यवस्था पर गंभीर सवाल उठाए हैं। पीड़िता, जो पोस्ट-ग्रेजुएट छात्रा है, ने अपनी पुलिस शिकायत में पूरे घटनाक्रम का विस्तार से उल्लेख किया है।
शिकायत के अनुसार, पीड़िता आरोपी से अपनी जैकेट लेने के लिए दोपहर करीब एक बजे कॉलेज की सातवीं मंजिल पर स्थित पोस्ट-ग्रेजुएशन ब्लॉक में मिली थी। आरोपी ने जैकेट देते समय अचानक उसे जबरन चूमा। इससे घबराकर और आक्रोशित होकर वह नीचे छठी मंजिल पर चली गई।
कुछ देर बाद आरोपी वहां पहुंचा, उसे जबरन पुरुष वॉशरूम में घसीट लिया और दुष्कर्म किया। पीड़िता ने कहा कि वह घटना से इतनी स्तब्ध थी कि कुछ समय तक कुछ बोल भी नहीं पाई। बाद में उसने दो दोस्तों को यह बात बताई, जिन्होंने उसे पुलिस में शिकायत दर्ज कराने की सलाह दी।
पीड़िता ने यह भी बताया कि उसी शाम आरोपी ने उसे फोन कर पूछा, “क्या तुम्हें गोली लाकर दूं?” उसने तुरंत फोन काट दिया क्योंकि वह गहरे सदमे में थी।
पुलिस और कॉलेज की कार्रवाई
शिकायत दर्ज होने के बाद पुलिस ने तेजी से कार्रवाई करते हुए आरोपी को गिरफ्तार कर लिया। गुरुवार को पुलिस उसे घटनास्थल पर लेकर गई और स्पॉट-महाजर की प्रक्रिया पूरी की। पुलिस ने वॉशरूम से सबूत इकट्ठा किए और भवन के सीसीटीवी फुटेज की जांच की।
कॉलेज प्रशासन ने कहा कि मामले की जानकारी मिलते ही आंतरिक जांच समिति गठित की गई। कॉलेज प्रवक्ता ने बताया, “कॉलेज के नियमों के अनुसार हमने समिति बनाकर जांच कराई है और रिपोर्ट जमा कर दी गई है।” कॉलेज ने यह भी स्पष्ट किया कि औपचारिक शिकायत से पहले ही प्रारंभिक अनुशासनात्मक कार्रवाई शुरू कर दी गई थी।
आरोपी पर भारतीय न्याय संहिता (BNS) की धारा 64 के तहत दुष्कर्म का मामला दर्ज किया गया है और उसे न्यायिक हिरासत में भेज दिया गया है। पुलिस ने बताया कि पीड़िता को परामर्श की सुविधा उपलब्ध कराई गई है और एक महिला अधिकारी को इस मामले की निगरानी सौंपी गई है।
शहर के पुलिस आयुक्त ने कहा कि ऐसे मामलों को अत्यधिक गंभीरता से लिया जाएगा और सभी शिक्षण संस्थानों को परिसर में सुरक्षा और निगरानी को मजबूत करने के निर्देश दिए गए हैं।
