A 24-year-old Mumbai biker Riddhi Thakkar was tragically killed early on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, after her motorcycle was struck by a trailer truck on National Highway 30 near Markatola Ghat. Police are treating the incident as a Chhattisgarh hit-and-run, as the driver fled the scene immediately after the collision.
Thakkar, a resident of Kandivali West in Mumbai, was part of a large touring group of roughly 20 to 23 motorcyclists travelling from Raipur towards Kanker in the Bastar region. Prior to joining the group, she had completed a solo ride from Mumbai to Raipur, passing through Aurangabad (Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar) and Nagpur.
The fatal NH-30 accident occurred between 5:00 and 6:00 a.m. in an area under the jurisdiction of the Purur police station, approximately 20–24 km from Dhamtari and 100 km from Raipur. According to police, most of the group had ridden ahead while Thakkar and a few others trailed behind. A speeding trailer truck collided with her Bajaj Avenger (Registration: MH 12 SP 0835). The massive impact threw her onto the highway, resulting in critical injuries, including severe damage to her legs.
Police Investigation and the Rider's Legacy
Following the Riddhi Thakkar accident, fellow riders and locals rushed to help, dialing the 112 emergency helpline. She was initially taken to the Community Health Centre in Charama. As her condition rapidly deteriorated, she was referred to Shriram Hospital, a private facility in Dhamtari. Doctors pronounced her dead around 8:30 a.m. Balod Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan stated that a case of unnatural death has been registered. Investigators are currently examining CCTV footage from nearby highway stretches and questioning group members to identify the absconding vehicle.
Beyond the highway, Mumbai biker Riddhi Thakkar was a deeply respected figure in the riding community. Running the active Instagram handle @gearglimpse54 with around 16,000 to 18,000 followers, she shared memories from her road trips, including recent visits to a temple in Aurangabad and the Wainganga River. A professional makeup artist who represented India at an Asian Championship in Kazakhstan, she famously described herself on YouTube as a passionate rider carving her path "in a world where the throttle doesn’t care about gender."
Following a post-mortem at the District Hospital in Dhamtari, her remains were handed over to her father, who arrived to take her body back to Mumbai.
